Boat Trip 2014 - Aug. 10

What a beautiful Sunday this has been.  There is a beautiful church between Young's Point and Burleigh Falls, and that is where we went - by boat - this morning.  This church is on an island in Stoney Lake, and the last time we went there, we had to anchor off shore, and someone gave us a ride.  This time, we were able to tie up to a new dock that they have built around back.

St Peter's on the Rock Anglican Church of Stoney Lake.  It is just used during July and August, and was built in 1914.  Celebrating 100 years this year.

One of the beautiful windows at the front of the church.

What a treat to have an octet - 4 men and 4 women - from Elora ON, called the Elora Festival Singers, sing several numbers for us today.  Really good!

There were 6 babies baptized this morning in the lake.  There were a LOT of kids in the church, who went out for Sunday School. which made room for adults.  the place was packed!
We are stopped in a lovely spot at the top of the lock at Burleigh Falls, and there are several loons in the area.  Nice.
A group of kayakers came through, and one of them demonstrated several different ways to roll.  It was quite entertaining!
Burleigh Falls can be pretty treacherous at times, but today, the rapids were pretty quiet, and several people were playing in them.
We had a little excitement here today as well.  Apparently, at the next lock, which is an island lock called Lovesick, a lady fainted, so they brought her here to meet the paramedics.  They took her in the ambulance, but of course we don't know how that all turned out.  It was pretty hot, so maybe sunstroke.
Meet "Pork chop"!  I don't know his real name, but he is a cute little 9 week old pot belly pig.  What do you think they will do with him when he's 100 pounds?  Eat him, I guess.
