This morning, we made our annual trek to Calabash, North Carolina (just over the border from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina). After lunch, it was back to Myrtle Beach to one of the 2 outlet malls - the one that is very close to where we are staying - for a few hours of searching out bargains. By then, it had warmed up nicely, and the sun was shining, so we went to the beach for a walk.
First stop was Callahan's - an amazing gift shop. It's huge! And about 1/3 of it is a Christmas Store. I found an ornament for my Dalmatian Christmas tree - not only is it a Dalmatian, it's also a mini-nutcracker. Cute.
Next stop is always Captain Nance's Seafood Restaurant. They have amazing hushpuppies, and give you a whole basketful, with honey butter to dip them in. We had heaps of shrimp and clam strips, and came out stuffed. It's also very inexpensive.
Shrimp boats docked behind Capt. Nance's. In season - about another month - you can buy local seafood at the docks. You can also go deep sea fishing from here. We saw some folks come in while we had lunch - they had been successful!
The pelicans were hanging around while the boat owner cleaned the fish for the passengers, where they vied for the scraps.
Docking a fishing boat.
We were not alone on the beach today when we got there about 5:30!
Paul bailed on me, but I walked to the pier and back.
Shark on the beach!
In the lobby of our resort, there are 3 fish tanks with pretty fish in them. It is always a challenge for me to get a picture - they have to be still, which doesn't happen often!
