Another gorgeous day in Hollywood

What a beautiful sunrise to begin another hot, sunny, breezy day!

For only the second time this winter, we went out for breakfast - on the broadwalk - a nice treat.

This morning we took a trolly ride up to and around downtown Hollywood.  It was a disappointment, because we expected a commentary from the driver, but it didn't happen!  He never opened his mouth.  We went back for our bikes and a lunch and biked to West Lake Park and Anne Kolb Nature Center.  This picture is from the observation tower, and we walked out this boardwalk through the Mangrove forest.  When the tide is out (this lake is affected by the tides because it is attached to the Intracoastal Waterway), there are mud flats under the boardwalk.

This juvenile ibis was taking advantage of the low water.

This cool creature is called a fiddler crab.

This is a checkerboard blowfish - if he senses danger, he puffs himself up big.

This is an Atlantic Needlefish - very long and skinny.

This is a water crab, appropriately named Blue Crab.

A RED Mangrove island - it has the support root system above the water and always grows in or beside the water.
This is a WHITE Mangrove where the roots grow upward out of the dry ground - looks like worms!  Apparently there's also a BLACK Mangrove, but I'm not sure what it looks like.

We biked on a path that would have been more appropriate for YOUR kind of bike, Jeff - it was very rough, with big rocks and boulders everywhere.  We didn't enjoy it much!  On our way home, we stopped off at a beach and I went for a swim.....

.....while Paul had a nap on the beach.
When we arrived back here, we discovered that our AC was not working, and that the AC in the whole building is not working!  It wouldn't be so bad if you could open a window, but they don't open.  There will be  a LOT of unhappy people if it doesn't start soon!  It's actually quite nice and cool outside tonight - we may have to go for a walk on the broadwalk.
