Great biking day

It was such a great day here in south Florida that we decided to go biking.  We forgot to take our map with us and were "sort of" lost for awhile.  I'm so glad we were, since we wouldn't have seen some great stuff otherwise.  Like this relatively rare tri-coloured heron.......

......this little blue heron - SO colourful! - cavorting with the purple galinule............

.......and this "preening" sand-hill crane.  Do Lydia and Abby remember seeing the one that was hanging around by their house in Florida?

Such gorgeous flowers!

Another little blue - having something to say!

Some ibises.

A lot of the trees on Bonaventure Blvd, and elsewhere as well, are these Banyan trees.  Apparently there are several species of banyan, including "strangler fig", which I think is what these are.

There are several bronze sculptures in the Weston Town Center.  This is my favorite - horses that I'm not allergic to!

A nice path beside the lake at the town center.

I thought this was hilarious - cormorants drying their wings on these fake Canada geese.  Interestingly, we never see REAL Canada geese - I wonder where they spend the winter???

This egret was doing some fishing by the lake at the town center.

I've discovered that there are several kinds of coots (water birds) - this one that has a spot of red on the top of his beak is an American Coot.

This one that doesn't have red on his beak could be a Eurasian Coot.

And another little blue - they seem bluer than usual - I wonder if it's something to do with the breeding season.
It was so perfect today - not too hot, not too cool, some sun, some cloud, NO rain!  Is it asking too much for the rest of the week to be the same?
