Start of a week in Hollywood

We drove today from Kissimmee, south-east to Hollywood Beach, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.  This is the view from our window.  Unfortunately, there is no balcony and the windows don't open, so pictures are through glass.

Believe it or not, Paul bought a dinghy and a 5-hp outboard motor on the internet this week, from near Pompano, which was on our way south.  So now we have these added to the bikes and everything else we tote with us!  We are pretty heavily loaded - have to pack just so!

This is taken on the Broadwalk, which is between all the buildings and the beach.

I LOVE the colour of the ocean!  If you look really closely, you can see a ship coming out from Ft. Lauderdale harbour.

The Broadwalk is a few miles long, with a bike and roller blade lane on the right which is about 6 feet wide, and a pedestrian area which is about 14 feet wide.  On one side is the beach, and on the other side are shops, restaurants, bars, hotels.

This whole area was set up for a Pro Footvolley Tour - you can use anything except hands or arms to get the ball over the net.  The serve is from a cone of sand and is kicked.  These guys were amazing!

These nets were set up right next to the official one.  I believe it was a tournament which will be finished tomorrow.

These kite boarders (I think that's what it's called) gave us a bit of a show just before sunset tonight
We've been really looking forward to biking down here this week, but the weather is not looking good - lots of rain in the forecast.  So things may be different than planned.  Oh well, I'm sure we'll find something to do.
