We decided that we would spend our last day in Hollywood at the beach. Paul's back is acting up, and it is really hard for him to walk, but not so hard to bike. So we biked about 3 miles up the beach to the Dania Street Pier. It was such a HOT day (sweat was running down my face and into my eyes as we rode) that we parked ourselves in the shade of the pier and read our books.
How would you feel about going fishing in a kayak - that you sit on top of. He actually had 3 poles and lots of other gear - and the waves were quite vigorous.
Paul finally got into the Atlantic Ocean! We stayed in for quite a while - it was quite comfortably warm.
While we sat on our blanket near the pier, some pelicans entertained us nicely. There must have been a LOT of fish under the pier, because there were several pelicans feeding for the whole time we were there. Sometimes they sat with their heads down like this - I figure they were looking for fish.
I don't know if this guy got something stuck or what. I love pelicans, so you will probably see more as the weeks go by.
We saw a fellow riding this contraption several times on the Broadwalk. I took this picture, then he saw me about to take another and shook his finger no, so I quit. You'd think if you rode something that looks like this that you would expect to see people taking pictures of it!
Tomorrow we will be leaving these beautiful shores for this year, going to Weston for 2 weeks.
