Another "rainy day " in Hilton Head. Honestly, they have been telling us all week that it might rain, and it hasn't. We biked down the beach to go into Sea Pines again today. It's our favorite part of the island - so many trees and golf courses and so much water. This is a seagull guarding the harbour at Harbour Town.
The live oaks are so pretty draped with Spanish moss. But I wouldn't want one in my yard! They are very messy. The leaves are nothing like our oak trees, and they never get bare. The new leaves push off the old ones, and that's what is happening right now. They're everywhere....
....even on Jim Self's nose! Jim is a very large supporter of the Arts Center, and his bust is just outside. I thought it was kind of funny when I saw this.
This large yacht was in the harbour in Sea Pines today. We wondered if it was Tiger Woods', since he is going to be playing in a golf tournament here soon.
We saw quite a few alligators in Sea Pines today, but this was my favorite. He was right beside the bank where we were sitting on a bench, and Paul was throwing some acorns to him. He did get a little upset!
There's a huge horse farm in the middle of Sea Pines - really nice grounds and lots of beautiful horses. And oh, the smell! "Somebody should bottle that smell" - where have I heard that before?
Well tomorrow we leave here to go to Myrtle Beach for a week, and there's not very good biking there, so I'm really glad we got to do it every day this week. Tonight there are storm warnings on the tv, so we don't know what the next hours will hold, but it's only about a 4 hour drive for us tomorrow, so that's not bad. And I'm quite sure it won't be snow!
